Wandering through the Archaeological Park, I soaked in the Forum, ancient homes, and those eerie plaster casts of Vesuvius’s victims. History geek? Guilty as charged. The tour wrapped with a sunset wine tasting at a vineyard in Torre del Greco, overlooking Sorrento—my next stop, though I didn’t know it then.
